So another perk to having more free time is also having more time to spend with God. I’ve always tried to be intentional with my quiet time but now that I have more time at home, I can really make sure I have adequate quiet time. During my quiet time, I usually find a spot in the house and start reading my bible. Sometimes I listen to praise and worship while reading and other times I read in silence. I also write in my journal everyday. Some days I have a lot to say and other days I simply tell God that I love him.
I try to change it up so that it doesn’t become too routine. I never want it to be a “task I have to complete” but instead I want it to be something that I desire to do. I’ve found that when I have my quiet time, I feel more at peace throughout the day. It doesn’t mean that I don’t have challenges or bad days, it just means that I feel more equipped when challenges do arise.
While we’ve been going through our fertility issues, I’ve really tried to make sure I have my quiet time. With this being such a vulnerable time in my life, I want to make sure I have the tools I need to maintain my faith. My hope comes from the Lord and I must be reminded of this daily. Otherwise, I could end up falling into a state of depression or find myself throwing pity parties daily. Anyway, that’s just my two cents on quiet time and why it’s important.
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
