Well the procedure has been performed and so far recovery has been good. By the way, the name of the actual procedure is bilateral varicocele surgery. The first day Stanley was really sore and one of the incisions seems to be draining more than the other but the nurse said that it’s normal. The urologist came out and talked to me while Stanley was in recovery and told me that the surgery went well and the varicoceles were pretty significant. He said that the more significant they are, the better the chances are that the surgery works in our favor. He also said that although results tend to be seen around 3-6 months, it’s possible to see results before then.
I’m so thankful that the procedure went well and we have that behind us. Now we’re back to the waiting game. Some research shows that it can still take up to a year to see any ‘real’ results so we’re also bracing ourselves for that. I think more than anything, we’re just thankful that we found the issue and moved forward with resolving it. We both know that this doesn’t guarantee that we will get pregnant anytime soon but at least we have some hope. As I approach my 32 birthday, I’m hopeful that everything will work out the way it’s supposed to. Sometimes it’s hard not to think about my ‘biological’ clock but I know God has control over everything and things will happen when He says they will. I trust God with my life, my hopes, and dreams. He is my hope.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.
