Pregnancy occupies my brain 90% of the time. No matter what I do or say, that’s how it’s been. I hate that it consumes me so much but how do I change that? Lately, it’s been a little better because I’ve been working on my doula training and reading material but that’s still “baby stuff” so my mind eventually wanders back to me becoming pregnant. Stanley and I have also decided that we want to lead a small group. We’ve been involved in small group for a couple of years now and with our current group ending, we felt led to lead the next group. We believe that sowing into the lives of others is an important part of life.
For those of you that don’t know what small group is, it’s basically like a bible study group. It’s a little different then your average bible study group because we make sure we incorporate more than just “bible stuff” in these groups. We make sure we have socials, we may have dinner together or do service projects together. It’s just a group of people whom you can share your life with. We’ve loved it from the beginning and we feel that it’s definitely a great idea for this season of life. What better way to get your eyes off of yourself? I can’t spend my days worried about me! That’s not what God wants for my life. So we decided to open up our home and devote ourselves to leading our next group.
Our current group has been really supportive as we’ve gone through and are still going through this current season in our lives. I pray that we can be that same support for those who are in our next group. No matter how big our problems seem, there are always others who have problems just as big or bigger than ours. Reminding myself of that helps me to remember to be thankful for what I do have. Of course I want to be pregnant, but I must be thankful for what I’ve been blessed with thus far.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
