When my husband and I got married in 2010, we knew that we wanted to have more children. We have a daughter that is biologically mines but his through our marriage. We also knew that we wanted to enjoy our marriage for a couple of years and possibly even purchase a home before we had more children. I mean, I was 28 and he was 26 at the time so of course we just KNEW that we had plenty of time for children. I remained on birth control until late 2012 and then I decided to get off but we would still make sure we weren’t having sex during the time when I was ovulating. We purchased our home in March of 2013 and shortly after that, we decided that we would try to get pregnant. This is when our journey through infertility started.
May of 2013 was the first month that we tried. I felt like I kind of knew when I ovulated so it should be easy to get pregnant, right? Well, unfortunately, my cycle came on as usual and I was really upset about it. I mean, yeah, that was our first month trying but I had gotten pregnant with my daughter without even trying. As a matter of fact, it was a complete surprise when I found out I was pregnant with her. So I started researching ‘how to become pregnant’ and that’s when I realized that there was an entire science that I had no idea about.
I soon found out about cervical mucus or ‘CM’, keeping your legs up and your pelvis elevated after you’re done having sex to keep the sperm high up, preseed (sperm friendly lubricant) and a slew of other things. Man….there is a lot involved with this pregnancy thing. SO much so that I thought I would start blogging about it.
You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
